Lana has had a harsh life so far. Stolen from her family, she’s been a slave in a household known for its cruelty. When she’s thrown in with a dragon egg, she knows that the intention is for her to be the dragon’s first meal. She’s surprised when she starts to hear the dragon talking to her from inside the egg, and he doesn’t seem to be the horrible monster that she thought he would be; he’s just a baby. When Tor is hatched, she finds that she has a strange affinity with him, and it saves her life. When the dragon gets old enough, they escape and live life on the run by themselves, until they save a mysterious black dragon.

Roland can’t believe it when a white dragon comes out of the sky to save him from attack, particularly when there is a woman on his back guiding him! The moves that the dragon makes are astonishing, and he knows that he needs to get these two on his side to help him in his fight. The problem is, he’s in his dragon form and attracted to Lana, and she doesn’t know that he’s not only a dragon, but a man and king of his realm. Will she love him when he reveals who he is?

I thought this story was wonderfully different and had a lot going for it. I always like a strong heroine who gets to rescue the hero, and the fact that there was non-stop action throughout. The interaction between Lana and her dragon was very convincing, and the relationship with Roland slowly maturing at first was nice to see. The only thing I have to say is that I was pretty surprised at how naive Lana sometimes acted with Roland. She’d grown up as a slave in a brutal household, and had escaped soldiers with her dragon for a long time, so it was hard to believe that someone with that kind of back ground would be quite so innocent. Overall, I really enjoyed reading Dragon Knights Book 3: Ice Dragon and I would highly recommend it, particularly if you like dragon stories.
