| Caleb Faulkner was willing to give up his humanity to save the alien race of the planet Icarus. Of course he wasn't doing this just out of the goodness of his own heart. Caleb had his own agenda that just so happens to coincide with helping the aliens find a solution to their dying race. Dr. Zara Abbott spent months preparing Caleb for the joining ritual and was willing to see the outcome despite her misgivings and secret feelings she harbors. When disaster struck with Caleb's life hanging in the balance, Zara soon finds herself caught up in a mating flight.
Set in a futuristic world of aliens who can fly, and facing the extinction of their species, Icarus Rising is an apt description for this story. Caleb is a man facing certain death and is willing to do anything to extend that time. After all he's only human, and each of us if faced with this decision probably would have talked ourselves into the position he soon found himself in. Zara, who worked closely with Caleb, found that the feelings she had for him were stronger than she wanted to admit. But when both Caleb and Zara are faced with the deep need to mate, they took flight with a sexual abandon and couldn't keep their hands off one another. With challenges both these characters will face, along with some heart wrenching decisions, I enjoyed reading this story which is so rich and awe inspiring, it almost seems real.
