| Dr. Emily Drake is also known as “The Monster Doctor”, as this psychiatrist treats those known as SB’s or Other. Her clientele includes vampires, demons, charmers, witches, djinn, and the like. Normal humans don’t believe they exist, but Em has always seen them. The Atlanta P.D. has asked for her assistance in a particularly brutal murder done by one of the Other, and the detective in charge Colin Gyth is determined to find the killer, in spite of the help of the pretty doctor. Colin does not like the idea that Em is the only one who can tell that he isn’t human, in fact he is one of the Other that Em particularly fears, a shifter. Her feelings for Colin involve more lust than fear however and the feeling is mutual.
This is a truly well done paranormal romance with just the right balance between, the paranormals, the love scenes, and the suspenseful hunt for a brutal serial killer. The author has created a believable world where the supernatural and humans exist side by side, with the humans for the most part not being aware that the creatures from their horror movies truly exist. The author has a descriptive style that helped me to picture each character and each scene vividly. The characters are all very real and could step out of the pages. Both the love story between Em and Colin and the hunt for the killer will keep you at the edge of your seat. You will love Ms. Eden’s world of the supernatural and her more human characters as well.
