Angie Peterson is pretty sure the police won't take her seriously after she overhears two men planning to kill someone. She tries calling Alastair Honeybun to warn him but he thinks she's a crank. Leaving her coffee shop in the hands of some college students she tries to warn him in person. Little does she know her attempt to be a good citizen will put her into a situation where she's running for her life with a dog named Jaws and a hunk with a family support system that's unbelievable.

Sam Cheever has crafted a tale that's full of suspense and a rollicking humor that will have you almost rolling on the floor in laughter. The story is so fast moving you won't want to put it down or move away from the screen long enough to indulge in more than some prolonged chuckling. You'll have to settle for frequent laughter at the antics of the Honeybun boys as they try to find out who's trying to kill one of their own.. If it's not the eight brothers it's the inept kidnappers making us smile as they suffer untold damages inflicted by their victims.

This is one of those stories that makes Sam Cheever a constant favorite. She plots a suspense with the best authors around. Then adds her own unique brand of humor and romance throughout to make the stories even more fun to read. This is a great pick for a book that will fly by as you read. One mishap after another leads the villains into the capable hands of Detective Brita Muldane. Angie's bravery, wit, and skills mingle frequently with terror as she proves she's able to fit in well with the family of Honeybuns.
