| In 1607 at Sinclair Castle in the Scottish Highlands, three little girls were saved the night McNeal massacred their family. The middle daughter, Fiona, was taken care of by the MacDougal laird and his wife. They were unaware that Fiona remembered that night for the whole 18 years she lived with them. Most of all, Fiona harbored anger at her oldest sister because she had promised to come back for her after retrieving their baby sister; however, she never came back and Fiona was raised with the MacDougal Clan.
The prophecy stated that all three sisters had to reunite to enable the druids and fairies to remain on the earth. Gregor, the mercenary who previously worked for MacNeil, was sent to bring Fiona to the MacInnes land to bring the sisters back together. Fiona had always determined to be alone because she had a fear of being abandoned as her older sister had done. Gregor had a secret of his own which was discussed in the first book of this series. Gregor and Fiona were attracted to each other from the start; however, with problems on both their parts, neither would admit the attraction. Ms. Donna Grant does her usual excellent job of giving the reader an extraordinary story with, of course, many twists. This book, the middle of the series, is best understood after reading the first. I, personally, cannot wait to read the third! Ms. Grant takes us through the myriad of struggles this couple must face to enable them to reach their destiny. The sub-characters in this book are so varied and so important to the story that it would be easy to realize that they are so necessary to the story. However, they add to, not detract from, the book. These characters are introduced in book one of the series, but are just as loveable (or detestable) as ever. The author does a brilliant job of using the cast of characters to tell an extraordinary story which is not to be missed! I loved this book and had a hard time putting it down until completion!
