| Hildy McAlister had big problems; all she wanted to do was escape to her old cabin at Cape Breton. The fact that she was running from an ex-boyfriend who was also her ex-coworker, insured that she had spent the last 3 days running from Michael and his threats to inflict bodily harm. That being the case, when Hildy arrived at her cabin at 2:00 am, tired and scared and intimidated, the last thing she expected to encounter was a naked man in her bed!
Since no one had been to the cabin (to her knowledge) in over 2 years, Hildy had a big flashlight to light her way. After she stumbled upon Jim Curry, she tried to appear that she had no fear and was able to take care of herself. This unexpected meeting between Hildy and Jim enlightened her to the fact that there were some more strange things happening. Jim, her neighbor, had been staying at her cabin because someone was trying to burn it down! The instant attraction between Hildy and Jim was unexpected. Hildy had escaped to the cabin to enable herself to be alone and to figure out how to deal with the horrific details of her life. Not only did she have to deal with Jim, his mother (surprise!) had bought a strip of land from Hildy's late father and built a house next to her. Sarah's daughter, Jim's sister, Deb, also stayed with her. That was three extra people she had not counted on. Then...came her sister, Irene, and her niece, Emma. That is two more! So much for peace and quiet! Donny, her cousin, also showed up quite frequently. That's six! Hildy's rural cabin on the Atlantic Ocean was so crowded that she felt smothered. It certainly did not seem she had found her Haven! Ms. Spencer wrote an excellent story. I read it in less than a full day and it is a full-length book. I absolutely could NOT put it down! It is a fast-paced, fun read with lots of interaction between the characters. I love this book!
