Sunny is the only girl in a family of overprotective male cops. She is a private investigator and very good at her job, especially undercover work, which they all hate. Her current assignment is for an old friend of the family, but someone doesn't want her poking around in the past. Judson has just lost his partner and is winding up his career in law enforcement before moving on to a new life in Montana. His last assignment is a murder cold case where he is assigned to work with Sunny.

I really enjoyed this suspenseful love story. First, I had to suspend my belief that a private investigator and a police officer would be working together on the same case. I often wondered throughout the story why Sunny did not become an actual police officer, especially since she is better at it than her brothers. The plot flows very smoothly and has enough twists and turns to keep any mystery lover happy. The love story is equally intriguing and the author keeps us slightly off balance with both aspects of the story. The characters are extremely well drawn and could almost walk right off the page. Sunny's spunky attitude and the slightly mysterious and protective Judson kept me interested from the first page to the last. The ending has a very interesting twist that I did not expect at all.
