| After Gabrielle Porter receives her degree in fine art, she takes her nest egg and starts a jewelry making business. She is anxious to meet with Victoria & Albert Museum, to discuss a possible showing of her pieces. If only she could find a complete man to enhance her life, like her business. After one of her gal gangs takes her to the club, Succulent, Gabrielle discovers something much more adventurous in life. Using a pseudonym as Cassandra, she begins a membership in the club. Max Stephenson runs a business with a friend helping the government, and various businesses, work on different approaches to environmental issues. As a silent partner in the club, Succulent, the moment he sees Cassandra, he is smitten. He likes her policy of no attachments. After one night together, neither can get the other off their mind. As their relationship blossoms, will they be able to find a connection as strong outside the club, especially when Max learns the wild and exotic Cassandra is really business woman, Gabrielle?
I must say The Gilded Cage is certainly blazing hot. Max and Gabrielle create some smoking scenes, as their love burns the pages. I like their instant attraction and how neither can stop thinking of the other. Gabrielle is indeed a strong woman even though I found she hides behind some of her issues by turning into another person. It was like she was afraid to actually come out and be the real her, but I like the way it brings her closer to Max. I would certainly say to be paired with Max is the icing on the cake. Tilly Greene pens a heated read of two people who choose to keep their distance, with no strings, but find in the long run that real love means not being apart. She fashions a good story, with interesting characters that keep one turning the pages.
