Angel Whitedove leads a lonely life, preferring seclusion. Her life is constantly filled with fantasies of being kidnapped. She is a student of the alien abduction phenomenon and has no time for love but someone is about to tell her differently.

Darek of Laren, Starship Commander is on a quest. Laaen, the outlaw must be brought home for trial. He heads to Earth to recover him, only to run into Laaen’s daughter, Angel, who is leery of trusting anyone. He must prove that he is not her enemy.

Angel is the half-breed daughter of a Laren alien and the only way she can battle her oppressors is by isolation. Angel knows that the Greys can torment the innocents so she tries to protect them. Most of her time is spent with her hybrid dog, Wolf, her trusty companion. One day things change inside an artist’s market when she bumps into a man that reverses everything. Angel is not certain if she can really trust the man yet he appears different from others. Darek is searching for Laaen when he encounters Angel, who just happens to be the daughter of the outlaw whose whereabouts he searches. Darek wishes to spare Angel from anymore pain. He will not divulge anything about her to anyone, but when events turn, Angel and Darek are entwined in something that could cost their love for each other.

Getting Out Alive is one of those stories that unfolds like a strong drama. It leaves the reader spellbound with a plot that thickens with edge on the seat entertainment. I loved how Angel has to almost follow her heart to trust Darek and how he seemed to understand her feelings and desires. Ms. Paul has spun a tale that is not only fascinates but is one great read with a cast of secondary characters that keep the story smoothly flowing.
