| Clarissa (Rissa) Tate was the mother of 16-year-old twins Seth and Sandie. Their father, Tom, left Rissa four months before. This was not his first affair. He told her to pack his things and give them to charity. While purging the attic, Rissa came across her old diary which noted that she and her (male) best friend from high school, Bobby, had made a pact to meet in 25 years at the bridge to Cinderella’s castle at Walt Disney World. That date was in two weeks. She decided the kids and she would take a vacation and see if Bobby showed up.
Rob had never gotten over Rissa. His beloved wife had died two years prior. He decided to take his daughter, Mandy and her friend, Sharon, to Florida in case Rissa showed up. Mandy had heard about Rissa her whole life. She was anxious to meet this woman who had captured her father’s heart so many years before. Ms. Mary Martinez has written an upbeat, emotional story about finding love after a big loss. Both main characters had lost a beloved mate and needed to find the stamina to begin again. The poignant look at this situation was well developed in a few well-chosen words. This couple was solid, well-grounded individuals, who willingly took a chance. The way each dealt with the crises and challenges of their friendship was clearly heart-wrenching. This book was a quick read, feel-good storyline that I recommend to anyone. You’ll be glad to have read it.
