| Isabeau Fallon is an exceptional thief on Dyson’s Ring, an old space station that has seen better days. She’s small but tough and has a reputation for slipping past security codes and never getting caught. At least not until she becomes the object of a hunt by wickedly sexy Skeldhi enforcer Sobehk. Skeldhi hunters are also legendary for collecting stray humans to turn into their willing pets. She is eventually trapped by Sobehk, altered into a human-hybrid rehkyt and whisked away from Dyson’s Ring leaving all her professional allegiances and friends far behind. Or so she thought until her past comes back to haunt her. E’sey Khan is an Intelligence Officer sent to investigate crimes of the Moribund Company and take the Fallen Star into custody. But a series of accidents develops a pattern that makes it clear there are conspiracies all around and more than her Skeldhi captors want the Fallen Star – dead or alive.
Morgan Hawke writes another stellar romantic adventure in Fallen Star. This series continues to blow away the cobwebs on sci fi romantic erotica! It not only creates a believable world for the characters to play in but draws the reader into the fast paced action and allows them to relate to the emotions of the people that populate it. The two Skeldhis, Khan and Sobehk, reveal a bit more of the culture and politics of their home world as well as adding a thread of romantic tension. Isabeau is more than just a scrappy thief, revealing depths of self taught programming brilliance as well as a tragic element of abandonment. These characters all have layers, built with deliberate skill that paint a rich portrait of classically conflicted, imperfect, noble, lovable rogues. And the sex is too hot to handle! Skeldhi males are fierce sexually. They have some special attributes that would leave any gal gasping. And Khan’s attributes are even more enhanced! There are intense elements of BDSM in this trio, they all like pain. And there is bi-sexuality as well as sharing blood at times. But the kink, although scorching, is woven into the fabric of who and what these characters are so it’s not jarring. Khan is introduced as an even darker character than Sobehk, creating a delicious shiver of fear until we find out is he a hero or a villain? Interstellar Service and Discipline: Fallen Star is an awesome romance. I highly recommend it and look forward to more of the Interstellar sagas.
