| Maiven has had a hard life up until now. Mai doesn’t know who her father is. Her mother was into drugs and conning men until she died. And Mai found herself trapped into gambling online to earn money for Jeb, her mother’s last boyfriend, because he could blackmail her about a secret. When Fallon’s faemails first appear Mai is enthralled by his beauty, the thought of magic, and the possibility of escape is such a tempting thought. But Mai’s practical nature makes it hard for her to believe in Fallon or the possibility of magic. Is escape finally within her grasp or is Fallon just a fantasy?
Fae by Email by A.J. Cove is a really cute fairy tale although the fairies prefer to be called fae! Mai is a survivor and has managed to build some life for herself under Jeb’s unreasonable demands. If she wasn’t a strong, intelligent woman she would never have lasted for ten long years under Jeb’s abuse. Fallon is fae, although Mai doesn’t find that easy to believe. Fallon is a retriever; he finds fae that have run from fae justice and returns them back home to receive their punishment. So of course they have at least one major issue that conflicts. Fallon is on the side of bringing justice to those who have broken laws and Mai has something to hide that she feels will change what Fallon thinks about her. But there are even more mysteries surrounding Mai then even she knows. If she does have fae blood, like Fallon claims, where did it come from? I really enjoyed the charm, humor, and plot twists that make up this cute story. If you are in the mood for something light and uplifting filled with fae magic, you will enjoy Fae by Email.
