| Lady Francine Montfort has an interesting proposition to put to the rakish and ruthless Marquis of Blakely, Erasmus Hammond. If he will pretend to be her betrothed for the rest of the season, she will willingly give herself to him and allow him to have complete sensual control over her. Francine needs his help to avoid her matchmaking and scheming aunt and she knows Lord Blakely's reputation may be the only thing that holds her aunt at bay from forcing her into matrimony.
Erasmus does not deal with innocent, virginal women. But his senses come alive when he is with Francine and against his better judgment he agrees to her proposal. Unfortunately, he has a secret to hide and it is the time of year when that secret is becoming harder and harder to contain. Surely he will not hurt Francine? Immensely passionate, Erasmus takes Francine on a thrilling exploration of sensuality and desire. Francine is not as innocent as she first appears and she is more than eager to feel Erasmus's touch. From the first, these two shared witty conversation, addictive touches, and deep emotions. For all his rakish ways, Erasmus longs for a woman in his life, someone who will love him and assuage his loneliness. I liked the paranormal aspects Ms. Lyons brought to the story as it was enough to keep the plot lively but it did not involve complicated world building or an explanation of paranormal terms. This is a historical and it reads like a historical, with a few spicy plot points to keep everything hopping. Francine is a bold woman, but not stupid. She is intelligent and matches Erasmus wit for wit. Their romance grows quickly but it is very heartfelt and immensely sexy. One word of caution for historical readers who like their romances more vanilla than erotic, there is a ménage scene at the end of the story. Ensnared by Innocence kept me ensnared and eager for more! I hope Ms. Lyons plans to explore a few of the secondary characters she introduced.
