As a direct result of ACT 'Alien Conversion Testing', Ross is a victim of the testing. He allowed himself to be captured, retained, and rehabilitated in a maximum-security prison. Thyme, though a consummate professional, can't help but see beyond Ross' violent tendencies to the man beneath. He captured her interest and her heart. Four years of counseling and a mixture of drugs have helped counteract chemical imbalances. Together with study programs, Ross is ready to leave prison.

Ross owes much to the counselor who helped him but he's not willing to be amongst people. He takes a job on an isolated, uninhabited planet that will give him peace and solitude. Thyme never did anything to jeopardize her career but the thought of never seeing Ross again, breaks her heart. Especially knowing he's going to be all alone.

Doing Thyme is a fast and well-written novella. Kate Hill does a superb job of giving readers all the necessary details to understand Ross without going into laborious lengthy explanations that can slow down a story. She opens with Thyme fantasizing about Ross in graphic and sizzling detail and continues with tension and excitement to a very satisfying culmination. This story is a wonderful intensely hot interlude and definitely worth passing a few hours with.
