| Emma Binns has been in love with Jake McBride for a long time. She's not sure what keeps them apart but she is sure she doesn't want Abigail Christenson to have him. Seems like every time she tries to get close to him something happens to throw a monkey wrench into their relationship. Six years ago her father and brothers made him promise to stay away from her. His patience is at an end and he's determined to have her for his wife.
Lauri Robinson writes another tale of the McBrides that's fun and funny. Two people put their lives on hold because of a promise made under duress. Avoidance hasn't helped the problem. Jake is finally tired of putting his future on hold. When he makes up his mind he's as tough as any other cowboy. What he finds out from Emma's father about the promise is one of those thigs that make us shake our heads in frustration for the couple. Ms. Robinson keeps this tale fast moving with those twists and turns that always make a book fun.
