Astra Q. Phelps is a tweener-part devil, part angel-whose business is seeking out and destroying devils and demons. With her friends, lovers, angels and cohorts she helps rid the world of evil. In this second book in the series her family gets involved in a big way.

Ms. Cheever has done it again. This is a stand alone book in a series about this butt kicking heroine who the author gives some awesome powers. Her vocabulary might lack some finesse but her ability to take out the bad guys has a lot of class and Ms. Cheever paints her just right. The ups and downs of her relationships with her partner Emo, her guardian angel Myra and her favorite Devil, Prince Dialle, are well done. Not many authors have their hero or heroine meeting God but Ms. Cheever has Astra meeting him for a tete a tete about what’s going on with the angels and devils. Their conversation is just right while still irreverent and fun in keeping with the tone of the story. A lot of us may feel we have an unsupportive parent but how many of us have a parent who really is a witch? Witches, angels, devils, monsters and one little tweener to battle them with her friends. This is an excellent tale that’s hard to put down because of the humor, Astra‘s personality and her way of looking at the world. Ms. Cheever just seems to weave these characters into people we can‘t help but root for and want to read more of.
