| This latest of Michelle Levigne’s books set in Tabor Heights, Ohio is even better than the last. Of course, I’ve said that every one I’ve read. In this one, we are again brought up to date with some people we already met that live in that small college town. It amazes me how Levigne can catch her readers up on what is going on with previous stars from this town. She not only mentions them, she updates readers on what is taking place during each timeframe. Also, it’s like going back home for a reunion when I read the latest in her series.
Bekka Sanderson was a student raised by her grandparents. They were negative throughout the time she lived with them. They were opposed to her desire to write. Now, with them moved to Florida, she took in roommates (2) and worked 3-4 jobs trying to pay for her college education. Amy and Kat both had boyfriends and all the troubles that went with it. Bekka tried telling herself that she didn’t have time for a relationship. She was okay with that until she met Shane. Shane Hopkins was also a student at the local university. He worked several jobs to pay for his education. He had noticed Bekka but had trouble making connections with her. He knew he was in trouble when he ended up taking out her roommate instead of his intended date, Bekka. He needed his strong faith to be able to cope with the disasters facing him. Ms. Levigne has delved into the lives of three roommates—Bekka, Kat, and Amy—whom she alluded to previously. We knew they sometimes had problems, but in this segment, we lived the obstacles with them. These characters were superbly written. They had strong convictions but not necessarily spiritual ones. All did not take place in the church. This is not a cookie-cutter story which preaches at readers. These people were caring and loving to even those who caused trouble for them. I highly recommend you read this. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
