When Darius first caught sight of Dr. Jesse Reese he was thrust into an instant bout of lust with a raging hard-on. Deciding to approach her subtly, he began insinuating himself into her life. Too bad the plan backfired, and she didn’t seem to notice him. What he doesn’t realize is that the seemingly aloof Dr. Reese gets wet from a look from the ex-navy fly boy and one of the favorite parts of her vacation is the trip out to a secluded cabin with him as her pilot. Almost to the brink of merely asking her out, Darius discovers the world of romance novels and decides to use those books as his manual for seduction. But Jesse has ideas of her own and shows him that it’s ok for him to take control. In fact, she shivers with anticipation at the thought.

Darius is HOT, not just the man, but the book too. I was left breathless from beginning to end and even for quite a while after. Jesse is a strong willed woman who knows what she wants and has worked hard for what she believes in. It’s a good thing for her that what she wants is a man that can take charge. Darius is all that embodies a dominant male, but fortunately for Jesse he mainly feels the need to dominate in the bedroom. The author weaves Native American folklore into the story giving it a mystical feel and lends a sense of anticipation of some foreboding to the story. The relationship between Jesse and Darius develops quickly once they start talking and proves how invaluable communication can be. The addition of Jesse’s family adds some lighthearted dialogue during a time of turmoil and also foreshadows the potential of a series blooming from Darius. With a breathtaking balance of story and sizzling sex, Ms. Faulkner has proved once again that she’s a mistress of the written word.
