| A camping trip into the Sierra Nevada mountains turns into a fight for their lives for two off duty Special Agents. Taylor MacAllister and Will Brandt discover a crashed plane probably used by casino robbers. All too soon they find out what happened to some of the gang.
Josh Lanyon has built an excellent tale of two very strong willed men trying to work out their relationship. There’s plenty of suspense as we wonder if they’ll decide to be friends, partners at work, lovers or just give up and go their own ways. There’s enough dialogue and humor to move the story along well without getting bogged down in emotion. The author has each of the men sharing their feelings with us much better than they do with each other. Like in most good romances they seem to learn better the hard way. The men are finally getting to where their true feelings come out when the writer introduces a trio of hard core criminals looking for the money they‘d stolen. The author does a great job of painting the scenes so they’re easy to visualize in our mind as we read. I always appreciate it when I see how hard an author has worked to make places seem realistic as we read. He also builds an intimacy between the men that’s much more than sex. That’s one of my favorite things about a good romance and Josh Lanyon does it well.
