Nina Davies has some excellent characters in Dangerous Chemistry with several layers of conflict that provide a very good romantic suspense read.

Amelia Dawson escapes to Flora Beach, Oregon from Seattle after the death of her husband Dan from Cancer. She left her business, a bio-tech company to take of him that last year and when she was tried to go back, her CEO forced her out with a successful lawsuit. So she and her daughter, Katie, with only what they could carry in a car, arrived in Flora Beach and Amelia got a job at the bookstore with James Brooks. James sold the bookstore to her.

Amelia Dawson and Chris Brooks have similar issues with lack of trust. And those issues run head on into each other as Chris fears Amelia has taken advantage of his father in the sale of his dad's bookstore.

There is the developing romance between them that I like. I especially like that this romance does not go from zero to sixty in five seconds, but takes time to simmer and steam. There is time for the characters to become real, to make mistakes, to apologize, and to grow into humans.

When Chris came home it was for three months. The big questions for our couple now are will Chris leave Flora Beach after three months to go to New York as he has planned or will he stay in Flora Beach? How will this affect the romance, or will it?

Love is never easy. Ms. Davies has given a bit of mystery to add to the tensions for Amelia and Chris. A break in at her house causes her to wonder if Chris could be involved or if her old CEO is the culprit. The first occurrence was the when Amelia's computer was stolen. Next was the fire of her storage building that she learns later was caused by a dangerous chemical. This was discovered when someone almost dies. More happenings drive her to suspect Chris even more. Will she trust her heart or shut that door?

Nina Davies has skillfully woven characters, suspense, romance and passion into a story that is entertaining and hard to put down until you've read the last page.
