| Ashley Bennett was a physical therapist who was tired of catering to whiny, spoiled clients. She decided to return to her hometown and be close to her family and friends. When she went to the hospital to visit her professional mentor, he asked her to take responsibility for a particular patient who needed her. She found out it was the man she had never been able to get over.
Christopher Morgan was friends with Ashley throughout their entire lives. Their families were close and the parents viewed them as part of each other’s families. Chris had an accident while horseback riding and he was paralyzed. Additionally, it appeared he had a specific hereditary disease which would affect his life forever. It was possible that his brother and his family also would be affected. He and Ashley had a lot of work to do before they would get the test results which could ultimately change both their lives. Ms. Stephanie Morris has written a poignant story with a unique slant to the plot. She has dealt with issues that most would not address. The trials and conflicts which plagued this couple were emotionally challenging to read. Morris’ ability to deal with the adversities faced by not only the couple but also their families showed intensity that she felt the sorrows they faced. This book had several secondary characters, both family and friends, that made the storyline even better. From the small town to the interfering mother, it was totally believable. I found it hard to put this fast-paced book down. I had no idea how it would end but it was a great ending. This is my first Stephanie Morris novel, but it won’t be my last. I love her writing style. I enjoy interracial couples and the way this author seemed to deal with the situations. I recommend this book as a great introduction to her work. The sexual activities were well developed but not overly graphic.
