| Jamie has a low self-esteem, due to his childhood and his various partners throughout the years leaving him but he is doing his best to get over Ben! He's decided that he doesn't want any more one-night stands. He's not getting any younger and most of his friends are either married or in long-term relationships. That's what he wants and he's not going to settle for less! When he sees Ryan in a restaurant while with a client, he can't help wondering if Ryan is the one.
When Ryan first sees Jamie, he thinks he's used to people "like" Jamie, moneyed snobs, but he finds out that Jamie is in no way a snob and he's very down-to-earth. Ryan has been alone for almost two years now and while he finds Jamie attractive and interesting, he just can't bring himself to take that last step. However when he finally does, the sex is explosive. But the two men are so very different - will they be able to overcome the pain each man is carrying and keep their past from messing up their future??? I must admit that I was a tad put off with Ryan's on-again, off-again attitude in the beginning and while I appreciate his reasons, I thought it was a bit much for someone so young. However he redeemed himself, in my eyes, when he started worrying about how to get Jamie to believe in them and their relationship. Jamie is a fabulous "wounded" hero. He'd always been the one to give in a relationship while his partner took. It was heartwarming to see Ryan help Jamie acknowledge his feelings! If you like m/m, then this is a book to read! I highly recommend it!
