| In return for finding and stealing the incantation spell that would lower the veil between Ocrus, the demon world, and Earth that they believe he holds and can use, the Council agrees the Mika's vishtau mate will not be killed. Of course, she only has a strong suspicion that McCabe is her mate. And it's confirmed when she confronts him and asks for his protection from a much stronger, full-blooded demon. She can see that getting McCabe to lower his guard enough to accept her will be difficult, but their strong attraction should work nicely in her favor.

But getting the grim, control-freak McCabe to lighten up will be the least of her problems. She doesn't seem to be the only demon in Crimson City interested in McCabe.
Through a Crimson Veil is the third book in the Crimson City series, but it stood alone. I have to say, the more I read Ms. O'Shea's work, the more I enjoy it. Mika was the incarnation of a Mahsei demon, full of fun and light-hearted attitude. She made spiced almost every moment with a little bit of humor. And her relationship with McCabe, from introduction to end, was as torrid, sensual, and emotional as it could get. Despite Mika's flighty attitude, she treated McCabe with the serious his own personality demanded. Even the way she manipulated situations to make McCabe see the other side of situations was both amusing a needed. Mika and McCabe made the romance addictive in this story, especially since I was almost immediately drawn into it and felt a tug every time something sweet or sad happened between them, but the mystery was just as irresistable. I was never quite sure of the whys or the whos until they were revealed. All in all, Through a Crimson Veil was an excellent paranormal romance, with everything I could want in a book from humor, emotional romance, sensuality, mystery and a fast pace.
