| Lacey Owens hadn’t been home to visit her dad Carl or her step-mom Rita for four years. She had been involved in a relationship with Paul that left her scarred and uninterested in any men. She was an illustrator for children’s books and needed the peace and quiet of the ranch to meet her deadline. Her favorite place to sketch was at the lake on her father’s property. She desperately needed the calm found at her childhood home. That is, until she met her father’s foreman.
Chase Saunders was more than a foreman for Carl Owens. He had loaned Carl money when bad investments endangered the solvency of the home place. His younger brother, Brian, worked with him and he and his expecting wife were currently living in the house Chase was refurbishing. He was furious when his first sight of the boss’s daughter was with his married brother. He wasn’t shy so he wasted no time telling her to stay away from Brian. Ms. Tory Richards has written a fabulously sensual, exciting book. The plot thickened when a former employee of Carl’s was released from prison and promised to make Carl pay for having him incarcerated. The tension throughout the book was twofold. There was, of course, the sexual conflict between Chase and Lacey. The danger surrounding the unknown whereabouts of John Johnson created another stress-filled situation. These two characters were so well written and so aware of each other that it was incredible that the words didn’t burn the pages. The sexual activity was well written and sizzling. The sensual atmosphere was a page-turning experience. The other individuals involved in this story were dynamic and enhanced the book. This was a great book which I thoroughly enjoyed. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes vibrant characters with beautiful scenery and intense action. This is one author I would love to read again.
