|Emma Jane Hellsbane is different from everyone else. She's an empath, a being able to sense the emotions of those around her. Lately, when she's around her boyfriend, she experiences something that doesn't feel quite right to her. Thinking something is seriously wrong with him, she sets out to find what's wrong and do something about it before anyone gets hurt.
Although I have really enjoyed other books by this author, I found the plot of this book lacked the astonishing appeal that those other books had. A couple of times I had to put this book down because I thought Emma was too much of a whiner. It was obvious that her boyfriend didn't want to be saved. Why bother helping him once she'd gotten rid of the original problem that was creating the disturbance she was sensing through the emotions she was feeling? I enjoyed the dialogue, especially between Emma and her friend, Mihir. He was quite the character and their witty banter certainly livened up the story. Here's to hoping he's in the next instalment of this series. What I did enjoy about Emma was that she never allowed her gift to get her down, even though at times it must have annoyed her immensely.
Now on a final note, this book has its pros and cons for me mostly because I thought this story was too short in word length. But in saying that I can tell you that I look forward to reading the next instalment since it is a full- length novel.
