Dino Martini is a private eye. He carries a gun, calls his convertible, Matilda, and keeps company with his good friend, and mechanic, for many years, Seth Donnelly. He likes to sleep in, and if he would rather work at night, it is at his discretion. That is one reason he really doesn't have any roommates. Then again things are about to shift in his life when he begins an unexpected romance with Seth. He also is aware if he is ever in a fight; Seth is the one he can count on. Seth is a different story. He enjoys life as if it were a huge party and enjoys Dino's company and finds him a great friend. When Dino is pulled into a case, it is Seth, who makes sure to keep an eye on his back. Unfortunately, the two find themselves drawn into a bit of danger, but not only with some bad guys, but with their friendly relationship turning into something quite unforeseen.

Oh, Elle Parker, what a delightful story you have composed. Seth and Dino are quite opposites, almost reminding me of a new version of the Odd Couple. Ms. Parker not only chooses a nice title, but she ingeniously blends in some mystery and suspense, while incorporating a nice premise with Seth and Dino. She paints a good description of the cast so the reader can get a pretty good idea of what is happening amongst the characters. The dialogue is entertaining, the men are feisty, yet have a heart of gold. The way the story is written between Seth and Dino, the reader can make a connection for this loving twosome. Like Coffee and Doughnuts is an engaging and heartfelt read; one in which left an impression on this reader.
