Lorren Samples' lunch hour turns into something special when she's stopped on the street by a handsome cowboy wanting directions. Jess Croften is a rancher from Idaho in town before he ships off with his fellow Army Rangers to Afghanistan. He thinks about Lorren every day. After recuperating from injuries he heads back to Chicago to see if they still have the magic he felt the first time they met.

Jane Leopold Quinn tells a great tale of how a chance meeting in one of the largest cities in the world could turn into much more. The relationship is given its ups and downs with an age difference and the fact that Jess has to ship out before they've had much chance to get to know one another. I'm not a big fan of the Windy City or any big city but Ms. Leopold Quinn shows it to us in a different light when seen through the eyes of these two people building a romance.

The author gives us a taste of what men and women believe when sent into other countries to risk their lives and Jess' simple statement that Lorren is part of what he's been fighting for. This is a well crafted book with characters and dialogue that that make it fun to read.
