| When Jackson won the challenge to become Alpha of the Appalachian Pack, it seemed that he lost more than he won. His three best friends left the Pack after Darius lost, barring him, they were the three most powerful wolves left. Since they left, someone is undermining the Pack’s loyalty to him and he faces challenge after challenge. He has made his peace with Darius and his other former friends and envies them their mates, until he meets Summer, the girl’s wolf researcher cousin. He immediately knows that she is his mate, but she fights the attraction fearing a relationship like that of her grandmother and grandfather. Jackson is forced to kidnap her and forces the bond, adding another complication to an already pretty disturbing situation.
This is a really good series. I loved the previous stories of Darius and Trey and their witch mates and I had really wanted to read Jackson’s story. I was not disappointed. Jackson has evolved into a more and more sympathetic character and Summer, a previously shadowy kind of character has become much more real. Their relationship is pretty shaky at first, except for the sex of course, but gets better as they get to know each other. Billy and Chloe’s story is very intriguing, as is that of the rogue wolves who want to take over the Pack. Summer is a quietly strong character and Jackson is a bit more flamboyant. The other characters such as the evil Wyatt, Beta wolf Billy and Chloe’s father were very well described and vividly written. The description of the setting of the story, both on the private aircraft and in the Packs territory were very easy to picture. I just can’t get enough of this series.
