| Ryver has her own vampire. Many people do, now that the mages have found a magical charm to keep them under control and subservient. Originally a "security system" for her home, she has trained Theron to do other helpful things around the house, like giving a killer massage. An urgent newscast announces that the charms are failing, and the subdued vampires are beginning to regain their lethal capabilities and turning own their owners. Ryver soon learns her own Theron has a failing system as well. Docile and obedient during the day, her vampire lover comes into his own after sunset and is the best lover Ryver has ever had. But when the mages come knocking on her door in a mandatory vampire recall, she has to decide what she is willing to do to keep her midnight lover.
This was a fun short story to read. The premise of owning your vampire is great. The writing style is light and fun. Vampires have always been thought of as great lovers and one who follows your orders during the day and slips into your bed at night is just too good to be true. If you have any spare vampires with their magical charms in good repair, Zenobia, can you share?
