This is a follow-up story (if not a sequel) to Grounded, a previously-written book by Ms. Ruth Middleton. That was the love story of Robyn Banks and Rocket Jones, Jr. Robyn is Lenny’s sister; Rocket owns the nightclub, Air Lounge, which employed both Lenny in Melbourne, Australia, and Emma in Los Angeles, California. Catch Me If You Can takes place as Robyn and Rocket are on their honeymoon. However, you do not have to have read Grounded to fully understand Ms. Middleton’s latest winner!

Emma Kingston and Leonard Banks had worked together as partners on the police force in Australia; Emma was a rookie cop when Lenny was injured to the extent that he had to quit the force. He did not know what Emma had been through, just that she had disappeared. She became a private investigator and then Rocket hired her as Chief of Security at his L.A. Air Lounge. Emma had always been a little in love with Lenny; he, however, was determined to not mix business with pleasure! He was a love-them-and-leave-them type guy, never staying with any woman more than a week.

Emma blamed herself for Lenny’s injuries, but she also was determined to pay him back for never noticing her as a woman. She planned to make Lenny fall in love with her and then reject him. Their relationship was explosive; it took Emma a while, but she finally convinced Lenny that they should have a sexual relationship that would end when he left L.A. in two-week’s time. Yeah, right!

Ms. Middleton has penned another superb contemporary romance; she absolutely gets better each time I read one of her works! The chemistry between Lenny and Emma is so volatile; it seems they think of nothing except their own sensual escapades. The other characters, including Emma’s latest boyfriend, Jordan, play important, though not so vital, roles in this fast-paced, not to be put down, novel.

If you like plenty of sexual encounters, with a substantial plot, you will love this book. I highly recommend it. You will definitely not be disappointed!
