The year is 1607; the queen has given birth to twins when her brother decides to take over the kingdom. He butchers the king and the queen kills herself by throwing herself from a tower. The queen entrusts a servant to hide her babies and get them to safety. It is now sixteen years later and the evil king has been made aware of the twins existence. He has sent his army to kill the legitimate heirs so that he will remain unchallenged as the king. The twins, not knowing of their beginnings, are made aware when the families they believe their own are slaughtered. This begins their adventure to regain the throne of Tiralainn. Qynhelein and Trejaetan, twins born to rule a kingdom of men and elves, are destined to fulfill a prophecy. The twins have an army of friends that help. As they venture forward they gather allies and their army grows. They must defeat the evil that has decided to gain control of the kingdom.

Book of Days the title comes from the journal that is kept by Kierken the elfin protector of Qynh. He will write their adventures as they happen. This is a very creative and interesting story. The twins do not know who they are. They know they have elfin blood but they do not know what this means. It is interesting to see them gain their protector and learn to use them. Sara Reinke has written an emotionally charged exciting adventure. Danger is everywhere and the twins face many trials before the adventure is through. People that are loved are lost forever as the evil takes over. The romance between Qynh and Kierken is sweet and adds to the story. I enjoyed watching as their love continued to grow. The characters are fully developed and the reader will know them and their place in the story. The dialogue flows smoothly and successfully conveys the thoughts and emotions of the characters. This is truly an adventure of epic proportions that will thrill the reader. Never knowing what next will happen as they face the different people that exist in the kingdom, such as the giants and dwarfs, adds to the excitement. This is a story that is sure to appeal to many readers that enjoy fantasy and adventure.
