| Maggie writes romantic suspense novels. She feels that she is fated to be alone. Her father, brother, and two fiancés have been murdered. Her mother, logically overprotective, hires a bodyguard when Maggie receives some creepy letters from an ardent fan. They suspect the same murderer. Eddie West, an ex-Navy SEAL, and his firm are very qualified and more than they seem. Even they have their work cut out for them when Maggie is scheduled for a multi-city book signing tour, culminating in a conference in Miami. Eddie has to keep Maggie and his own heart safe. The people surrounding Maggie are more than they seem, including Eddie. They decide to bring things to a head, by changing the relationship of bodyguard/client to a false romantic one culminating in planning a wedding. The feelings are real however, and when matters get more serious than anticipated, their relationship undergoes a dramatic twist.
I found this an incredibly gripping read. The main characters are very vivid, Maggie the romantic suspense novelist, and Eddie, the rough around the edges ex-SEAL. The growth of their relationship is very involving, and the suspense portion of the story has so many twists and turns that it left me breathless. I downloaded this one onto my PDA and carried it around with me everywhere until I finished it, and I will probably read it again sometime soon.
