Riordan is a human that had started to be turned vampire but was interrupted in the middle of the process. Alone and without a job, he's turned to hunting vampires for a living. Not all of them, just the bad ones. Roarke is an older vampire, who is hunting down some vampires that he had made a long time ago because he had found out that they were creating havoc and were basically out of control. They both run into each other at a club. Riordan has an unusual way of finding out if a vampire is good or bad. If he can have sex with them without them biting, then he considers them good. If not, he'll kill them without a second thought. Vampires, and apparently even half vampires, need lots of sex and blood. Riordan is no different in that respect. But when he meets Roarke, his feelings somehow start to enter into it. Both of them get more than they bargained for when they decide to join forces to hunt down Roarke's mistakes.

Dark Callings: Bloodlines is a very interesting story about two men who fall in love. There are some extremely graphic sex scenes between the two men, if you aren't interested in that sort of thing don't get this book. That said, the story is well written and I really enjoyed reading it. The sex is beyond hot, with the passages leaving you panting for more. It's told through Riordan's eyes, and he goes into this not wanting to feel a thing for anyone. You can feel his confusion when he starts to feel more than he likes for Roarke. It naturally falls together. Roarke isn't very well developed as a character, because the main focus is Riordan. I have looked on the website, and I think this is going to be an ongoing series for Elizabeth Jewell. I definitely look forward to the next one!
