| Hadley Sloane is an agent with the FBI, she is also a vampire. She and her partner Chase have a personal relationship in addition to the professional one and have been together for five years despite Hadley's refusal to commit. What Chase does not know is that by vampire law Hadley is married and has been for a very long time. Kellen is an ancient and very powerful vampire. He let Hadley have time to find and make something of herself and now he is back to stay. Chase will either have to share Hadley or lose her. To complicate matters a serial killer has been caught and two of his alleged victims are still missing. Time is running out to find them.
Hadley and Chase are a great team both at and outside of work. I enjoyed the suspenseful mystery of where the killer hid his victims before they died and his rationale for the killings. I also enjoyed the way the author blended a great mystery story with Hadley, Kellen, and Chase's new relationship. Fans of Ms. Kennedy's other series will enjoy learning about and visiting another facet of her world. This series fits in with her other stories; I loved reading more about her vampires, having already read about her witches, guardians, and werewolves, and having met Mistress Ellery in a previous tale. I can't wait to read what she comes up with next.
