| Blaze is a Knight and healer, trained in martial arts, sworn to battle without weapons. All of his life he’s been guided, trained, sometimes driven to the point of madness by various spirits who appear to him as real people. Melody is also a warrior and a healer, guided by a spirit named Tara. When they meet their love is hotter than any battle they’ve ever fought.
Kate Hill has woven a tale of how rejection and pain can grow a person into a character filled with love, romance, heroism. All he needs is the help of people who love and respect him in spite of difficulties they don‘t really understand. Blaze is so well painted as an honorable man, worthy of being a Knight, even though he started life with nothing but pain. Melody is just as strongly drawn to be his mate, his friend, his companion. The dialogue in the book is priceless as friends talk, tease and support one another. The story and its people are so well developed that there’s a natural flow of decisions, actions. When Blaze’s mind is a mass of confusion we can nod and believe he’s making a good decision because it fits with who he is. We expect Melody to make the decisions she does because we see her love and strength consistently. This excellent story involved me so much I found I was laughing with them at times. And, of course, I cried at the ending because it was just right.
