Maeve O’Shea is the most inept in her family of witches. To her credit she hasn’t given up yet. When she uses a family heirloom in a potion a vengeful Prince Ronan is released. He was entrapped years ago by an ancestor and is determined to wreak havoc on Maeve.

Cynthia Rayne builds an enchanting love story, as good as any witches potion in keeping my interest and a smile on my face. Ronan is looking for revenge. But, for some reason, Maeve keeps getting under his skin. Maybe she’s not as powerful as her family as a witch but Maeve is able to resist all of his attempts to seduce then reject her.

I really enjoyed this book. Ronan’s and Maeve’s characters are built superbly as a perfect point/counterpoint to one another. She’s as insecure as he is secure. She’s unable to do the simplest spell right while he can do anything without hardly batting an eye. When the two strike a bargain he’s sure will help him entrap and seduce her then reject her as he was, he makes a critical error. Maeve is just too much for him to resist.

Their love doesn’t come easily but this author makes reading about it exceptionally easy for the reader. Reality is mixed with touches of faerie magic under her pen. I think this is a great love story.
