| Christian is drinking his sorrows away when we first meet him. His lover has left him to go back to his ex-wife and Christian is left with a three week vacation to Italy. Cold comfort when he'll be traveling alone. Alone, until he and Trip Watson, his ex-lover's best friend, decide the best way to get revenge against Andrew is to go on the trip together. Trip has an ulterior motive of his own in going on the trip but when one thing leads to another even the best laid plans can unravel.
I really liked the way the authors took a time worn plot line of revenge and revamped it into a touching and unconventional love story. Both, Christian and Trip are flawed characters but their flaws together equal something quite beautiful. They complement and complete each other. Andrew, as the worthless best friend and ex lover, provided the perfect stimulus to get these two men together in a fight against betrayal and hurt feelings that leads to true love and caring. I have to say that Trip was my favorite character in this story, completely a case of how you should never judge a book by its cover. The more layers that were peeled away from his façade the more I came to care for him. I did get a bit frustrated with Christian because I wanted him to hurry up and see Trip the way that I did, but as cliché as it sounds slow and steady does win the race and the climax was well worth the wait. I can’t wait to read more from this writing team, either in their incarnation as Jamie Craig or as themselves. This was a jewel of a story and really shone with all it’s facets. Congratulations on a job well done.
