Sophia Astley was speculating about her future while sitting beside her groom-to-be Ralph Crichton, the Duke of Wisbech, on a carriage ride. Suddenly their coach was blocked by a highwayman. To make matters worse, Sophia was left flabbergasted when her fiancé Ralph traded her to the highwayman to save his family heirloom ring. To spite her fiancé, she went along with it. Not contemplating that her life would turn out differently than what her parents or Morgan had planned for her.

The highwayman named Jack Badcock, known as the Earl of Stafford, followed the correspondence directions to the letter thinking he was kidnapping the naughtiest married women who he'd met at a masquerade ball a year earlier. He would later discover that he'd made a grave mistake. He'd deflowered an innocent wanton woman. Why she went along with it? He later finds out.

This novel was very well written with the realism of the entourage, the actions and the descriptions contributed nicely in advancing the story. A very distinct BDSM menagerie of sex apparel is exceedingly apparent in the novel. The adventure is nicely depicted right from the beginning and the adventure begins, carrying the aggression, the love, the assumptions as well as the nitty-gritty sex scenes. The main characters as well as the secondary characters really take their place in the novel actually making everything seem realistic and move forward nicely. It did bug me somewhat that her fiance was verbally cruel to her. He didn't even want her, only her money. His actions were that of a very arrogant dirty cad. Her the lover was very physical. The way the story was written, it sounded as if she didn't accept the mental abuse, but did accept the physical borderline abuse. I'm not into BDSM. However, because of the action and the characters, I found the book to be a good read.
