Megan Montgomery and her friends are back for second adventure into the books from the Library of Athena. During the girl’s Easter holidays, Megan’s family is visited by a well known archaeologist, Mr. Hemmlich, and his gorgeous son Diedrich. From the beginning Megan suspects there is something off about this visit; the father seems to know too much and says things that make Megan suspicious that he is really after some of Sir Gregory’s treasures. Could Mr. Hemmlich know about the library and the secrets it harbors? Is Diedrich also involved in whatever his father is up to?

Ms. Norris has created a second charming, adventure filled, young adult fantasy. This time the kids travel to Ancient Egypt in pursuit of The Ankh of Isis. But Mr. Hemmlich, with his own personal greedy and evil intents, is perusing them, determined to get the artifact for himself. Diedrich is along on this adventure with the girls but although they like him and want to trust him, they are unsure where his loyalties actually lay. As in the first book, the kids much solve puzzles by knowing Egyptian mythology and ancient beliefs so they can travel through Egypt to find the treasure. Failure to solve the puzzles is not an option, for if they do not find the Ankh, they can not return home. There are also many traps and dangers that the kids must overcome to be successful.

I am really enjoying this series. This time I was not as familiar with the Egyptian mythology and ancient beliefs but Ms. Norris gives the reader the information they need to follow the story comfortably! I love that these books promote learning and knowledge as a good thing for if the kids in the story do not like to learn new things or do not have some knowledge among them about Ancient Egypt they would not survive the task. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Norris does next in the third book! I highly recommend reading this series in order. Although each book is a different adventure, in each story Megan and her friends acquire new information and skills that are building from the first book. Besides why would anyone want to miss the fun in the first story before reading this one?
