| Kynan has been running from the nightmares of the Gwarch, the monster that killed his family, for most of his life. He's now living in Paris. It's a rough existence in which he must struggle just to survive each day, but he is used to the struggle and is pretty much content. When he's suddenly attacked, a stranger appears to rescue him. Aneirin is strong, handsome and brave, the very things Kynan wants to be himself. Kynan quickly falls in love with his brave protector and begins to feel safe, something he can't remember ever feeling. However, his happiness is short lived as his nightmares become very real when the Gwarch finds him and not even Aneirin can save him this time.
This was an interesting tale of monsters, nightmares, and determination. I enjoyed this story, going along with Kynan as he struggled to deal with the nightmares of his past and the fact that most people he knew believed him insane. Poor Kynan at times seemed so vulnerable, but so likeable, I wanted to protect him myself. Aneirin was a sensitive, strong, dark hero and I thoroughly enjoyed his character as he fought to protect Kynan while at the same time keeping his own secrets. Where this definitely would not be your conventional romance and not for someone looking for sweet words and soft kisses, this was a spicy, somewhat suspenseful love story that will pull the reader in and keep them turning the pages.
