Livia Pollia doesn't take kindly that her father always tries to pawn her off to many different suitors. Her father keeps a watchful eye over her but if she manages to leave his sight, he beats her. After meeting Claudius she feels much warmth with him and gets the feeling that she can trust him.

Claudius Quintus Gallus is quite taken with the lovely Livia and doesn't care for the way her domineering father uses her. He reaches out to protect her. His own engagement is about to be announced but after he spends time with Livia, it is hard to forget her.

Claudius invites Livia to a play but she's afraid it will cause a scandal with her father. The two slowly hit it off as their love dances through the pages. Her gargoyle father controls her life, choosing the candidates she is to marry. Claudius knows what woman he would like to marry but Livia realizes it would only cause a scandal and she doesn't know if they could go through with it without someone getting hurt.

A Little Roman Scandal is a must read. I could feel the intensity of the characters after reading how badly the father had beat the mother then started on Livia. The story was so electrifying that I was spellbound. Ms. Mueller weaves stories that impress. With every story she pens, she instills true believable characters and settings that are canvassed like beautiful oil paintings for the world to behold their beauty. Wow, this story really lights the pages!
