| What an amazing book! Ms. Denise Patrick has written a winner, of that I am sure! This inspirational romance offers a unique slant to the basic story of trying to have a baby, can’t, then adopt, get results. I’m almost sure that this will ending will be surprising to all. Jason and Kelly had been seriously trying for a year to have a baby. As an internist at the hospital, Jason was surrounded by various situations. When a four-year-old girl named Alyssa was injured in an automobile accident that killed her adoptive parents, Jason began to spend time with the little girl. She would be hard to place because she was bi-racial. Because of that, none of her adoptive family’s relatives would consider taking her.
Kelly wanted her own child so badly that she was uneasy about adopting, but she fell in love with Alyssa and decided to agree with Jason and go forward with the placement. Many things had compounded in their three-year-marriage that impacted how each viewed life, but they both loved the Lord and were willing to allow Him to direct their home and family. Adopting Alyssa proceeds with its astonishing story by delving into the past of both Jason and Kelly. Jason had bad feelings because his grandmother had lied to him about his mother’s death; Kelly’s mother had deserted her and disappeared for 14 years. The Lord used the strained reunion with her mother to point Kelly in an unusual direction which, unfortunately, caused friction with Jason. Throughout the process, Alyssa was fearful that she would lose these parents like she had the other ones. Her original parents were in prison for abusing her and her siblings. The unusual way that Jason and Kelly and Alyssa become a true family is a work of art! The sub characters are understandably successful in helping the story develop. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a distinctive ending.
