| Sarah has an unusual talent… she can read things and know exactly where and what has happened to the object in the past, as well as people. This has caused her to be rather isolated, as she can’t stand to touch people or things unless it’s part of her job as a reader. She’s now on her way to a planet in order to help a team explore the lost world, but it’s somewhat unusual because she knows that the lead scientist doesn’t like her at all due to a past run in, so she was surprised to be invited. When she gets to the planet, there are even more surprises in store when she meets the inhabitants…
The beginning of the story when she spends some time on the ship threw me off a bit, I didn’t expect the story to turn out the way it did because of it. That being said, one of the most interesting parts of the story was Sarah’s journey to the planet, you get to know her and a little bit about how she has to live in order to stay sane with her gift. I kind of liked the pilot and wanted to know more… but oh well. The chemistry between Demetrius and Sarah didn’t really light up until the last couple of pages, and the story sometimes didn’t feel that smooth to me. I would have liked to have found out more about Demetrius’s world, it sounded like it could have been very interesting. Overall, Marks of Admar is a good quality story that has a lot of promise, and will certainly keep you entertained.
