| Having grown up in Valentine, Texas, romance had been bred into Rachel. The whole town believed romance was the cure for all and everything in the town was centered on romance. For Rachel, romance hadn't been that great. She had declared a moratorium on romance and soon half the town is backing her while the other half are angry with her. The only constant in her life is childhood friend, Sheriff Brody Carlton. He has taken to looking after Rachel because it seems like trouble follows her around. The more time they spend together, the harder it is for Rachel to remember that happily ever after doesn't exist.
This is the third book in the Wedding Veil Wishes series. I haven't read the first two and it doesn't matter. This book certainly stands alone. As a matter of fact, if I didn't know it was the wedding veil wishes series. I wouldn't guess it because the wedding veil plays a very minor roll in this book. Addicted to Love is well written with interesting characters. Rachel is a heroine we can certainly relate to in that most of us have had our hearts broken at one time or another. Her actions are humorous and a little extreme and both combined to give the reader a good idea of Rachel's state of mind. I loved her attitude in the face of constant heartache, both with her family and her love life. Brody is the perfect tortured hero, having returned from war not quite whole but struggling to live life the right way. He was sweet and macho in his dealings with Rachel and the town people. The book starts off with a laugh-out-loud scene and moves smoothly along with heartache, humor, and romance -- even though the romance is disguised as lust. Addicted to Love gives us several couples who are trying to find their happily ever after and I consider it a bonus that the author was able to write several romances and tie them all neatly up in the end. I recommend this book for a good uplifting romance.
