Clair Ivars is a tarot card reader, a psychic. Her life has not gone exactly the way should would have liked up to this point. She has three failed marriages behind her and has decided that she is addicted to falling in love; therefore, she is trying to swear off men. Little does Clair know that her life is about to get a lot more complicated?

As she is attempting to leave work one afternoon, her friend Brian begs her to do one final reading before she goes. Agreeing to do it is her first mistake. When the very upset, Rachel, is sitting in front of Clair insisting she help her get out of her engagement or she will have to do something terrible to herself, what choice does Clair have but to help? Helping Rachel is her second mistake.

When Rachel runs from Clair’s tent, the very confused and worried Clair finds that Rachel has left her huge diamond engagement ring along with a card with Jack Heron’s name on it and the words return it. She knows she has to take it back to him and try to explain, thus begins her big adventure, and the beginning of her life spinning out of control.

This is the first story I have read by Mary Carter, but will definitely not be the last. Ms. Carter has written such a fun story. The characters are so realistic, and so wacky; I fell in love with them. Claire is a wonderful heroine; she is so confused and vulnerable, yet so airy and freethinking. The story will make the reader believe in fate, love at first sight, and that sometimes it takes a little insanity to find your place. This will be one that I will add to my keep stack to read over and over. I recommend this story to anyone looking for a light, fun love story.
