Mia Simon, a freelance writer, is tired of being taken advantage of because she tries to live as a nice person. When Austin Turner literally runs into her car during rush hour traffic in Pittsburgh and offers to pay for her repairs if she doesn’t report the accident, she isn’t sure what to think. Is he just another man trying to cheat her or is he really a nice guy? Mia decides to trust him and Austin follows through with the repairs and seems to be interested in Mia but as soon as everything is done he disappears. Was Austin’s interest just a ploy to get Mia to agree with what he wanted? When will she learn not to be so easily fooled?

In Accidental Fate by Lee Morrison, Mia faces the dilemma of whether to trust a stranger to do what he promises to do but so far she has been repeatedly disappointed by others. Mia is a nice, capable, and kind hearted person. She has no desire to take advantage of others and expects other people to live the same way. Austin turns out to be the owner of a limousine company so Mia can understand why he wouldn’t want a claim filed on his insurance. But when her car is fixed he disappears from her life, leaving her once again disappointed in others and questioning her judgment. Both Mia and Austin are attracted to one another but have other things going on in their lives that the other doesn’t know about since they are strangers. How do two strangers get to know each other better when they don’t have the time they need to develop their relationship before circumstances pull them apart? I really liked this story. I cared about the characters and wanted everything to work out for Mia and Austin so I was also disappointed when he let her down. But I am glad I put faith in Ms. Morrison’s ability to put the story back together in such a way that I was satisfied with the ending! Maybe there are really good people out there and we just have to find them.
