Paige divorced her cheating husband, left her hometown in Texas for New York City, and got a job at Martin Publishing. Her best friend, Dani, was technically her boss but they were as close as sisters. She had been dating Harry, the most boring man in the world, for the past year. It was stagnant but at least she could trust him. Instead of a marriage proposal when he returned from his business trip, Harry told her he met someone else. He even said that Paige was so boring she was stifling him.

This break-up, as well as Paige’s 39th birthday, led to Dani taking her to a masquerade ball in a swanky hotel which was totally out of character. The man she met had the same electric attraction to her that she had for him. Though they did not exchange names, he showed up at Paige’s apartment every night and left just before dawn. This continued for days—until she found out her mystery man was Jude Martin, son of the retiring president of Martin Publishing, where she and Dani worked. His reputation for ‘love them and leave them’ preceded him.

Ms. Mary Eason has written a superb story about two people who met in the night and, neither looking for long-term romance, began a relationship which would change both their lives. Her alpha male had a reputation but he was vulnerable. He didn’t want to care because he didn’t want to get hurt. She described his personality and insecurities so well, it seemed I really knew him. Paige’s character was clearly susceptible to the highs and lows of her life.

The other players in this great story were so well explained. It truly was as if I sat in the midst of all the meetings, phone calls, notes written—I was completely immersed in this storyline. The plot was poignant and those people involved faced a myriad of problems. Ms. Eason has shown a marvelous ability for story-telling. I was mesmerized with the entire content. Obviously, I loved it and highly recommend it to everyone.
