About Megan Slayer
When she’s not obsessing over her whip collection, she can be found picking up her kidlet from school. She enjoys writing in all genres, but writing about men in love suits her fancy best. The cabana boys are willing to serve, unless she needs them. She always need them. So be nice to Javier or he will bite--on command.
She also masquerades under the name Wendi Zwaduk and is published through Changeling Press, Liquid Silver Books, and Total-E-Bound Publishing.

By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio
MS: The line was born out of the Flash Fiction Fridays. FFF’s are a great way for the Changeling authors to write something quick and free for the readers. Readers send in prompts and we run with them. This particular prompt was: the devil has come to collect and you’re the one who has to pay. I wrote my flash fiction piece, then decided it would be good longer. Others agreed and we all turned proposals. Mine was accepted and turned in to Paid in Full. The Devil came to call and collected from Nicky, but left Nicky with a wicked surprise.
HH: How does Paid in Full fit in this line?
MS: Nicky wanted love. Plain and simple. He’s been sort of hanging out in life, very submissive and having a good time with his neighbors who happen to be twins. The problem is the twins work for the Devil and he’s come to call. When the Devil asks Nicky what he wants, he grants Nicky’s wish, but the consequences are the pits. It’s what he does with himself and his life that makes the difference. That and can the guy he’s crushing on accept the new Nicky?
It fits because there is definitely a debt being paid, but it’s the how that really makes the difference. I’d get into that, but that would ruin the ending! =)
HH: What do you like about your heroes and why will readers love them?
MS: My heroes are human. I don’t mean they aren’t wolves or cats or shifters, but they have very human, fallible qualities that are identifiable. The heroes aren’t broken, but they have to go through things we’ve all had to go through. I think readers will love them because they can see bits of themselves in my heroes... and really hot bodies. =) Gotta have hot bodies.
HH: How is this story unique among all the stories you’ve written?
MS: I’ve never written about the Devil. This time was the first time the actual Devil himself showed up. It’s also the first book that has a character with changing qualities that aren’t shape-shifters. Nicky’s surprise, devil’s horns, come from his being with the Devil. I also don’t tend to write characters who have multiple encounters with different people in the course of the story. Nicky does. There’s a reason, but he does.
HH: How do you feel about this being the 2000th book at Changeling Press?
MS: It’s very cool. It’s a neat milestone for the publisher and I’m excited to be part of it. Plus, 2000 has always been a good number for me. I love it.
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?
MS: I love cats and NASCAR. Love them. I’m not the crazy cat lady, by far, but I love my cats. Another FF topic was Halloween. I’d always wanted to write a cat shifter. Not a big cat, but a house cat, complete with the twists and turns that come along with having a cat. This Halloween, my Stray Cats series will debut. Four black cats, with their own sets of circumstances and a doctor who wants them all for himself. I can’t wait for them to come out!
Then I’ve also got a series for Resplendence Publishing coming out later this month. It’s another of my favorite things, NASCAR! The Track Domination series features drivers, crew chiefs, owners and other people who have to do with the Flash Racing Team and their sexual journeys. Each story is MM, so there’s lots of heat and BDSM. =)
HH: What do you enjoy about being a writer?
MS: Research! I’ve said in the past that I didn’t like the research, but I’ve changed my mind. Why? Well, when it comes to the NASCAR stories, I get to spend time at the track and can bring my notebook without question from DH. I also love when readers tell me how they’ve enjoyed my work. Sometimes it feels like I work in a vacuum. I write and don’t always know how the stories affected the readers and when I get a piece of fan mail telling me they enjoyed the book, that’s great. I even like the ones who tell me what I did wrong because I can learn from them.
HH: What keeps you writing each day?
MS: The characters keep me writing. Every time I think, okay, I can take a break and let some stories percolate for a while, that’s the moment when another character will show up and demand attention. Some days I can’t keep up. Some days I wish they’d take turns, but I’d never trade it.
HH: Where can readers find you online?
MS: www.wendizwaduk.com is Wendi’s site.
HH: What are you most excited about in 2013?
MS: I get to take part in the Erin McCarthy Speed Reader weekend and get to talk about my NASCAR themed stories, written as Wendi Zwaduk and as Megan Slayer, while hanging out with fans and spending time at the track.
I’m excited about all the stories I haven’t written and unleashing the stories that are slated to come out this year on the public. =) Thanks for having me here for the interview. This was a lot of fun!
HH: Thank you!
