An Interview with Tonya Ramagos
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio

HH: Tonya, thank you so much for talking with us at TRS. Your featured book is Going Under and is part of your Heroes of Silver Springs series. What can you tell us about the series itself?

TR: Thanks for having me! The Heroes of Silver Springs is an ongoing chain of novels featuring men and women who put their lives on the line to protect others. In each novel, these firefighters, agents, military, and law enforcement personnel find themselves facing the struggles of performing a career they hold deep in their hearts while attempting to find and hold onto love despite the demands of their career.

HH: What can you tell us about the books that came before in the series?

TR: The Heroes of Silver Springs books do not have to be read in order. However, each book has a subplot or two that slowly launches a new story. The series began with the focus on fire department captain Dean Wolcott and, as the series has evolved, the city of Silver Springs and the people who live there have taken on a life all their own.

HH: How does Going Under continue it?

TR: Going Under is the story of DEA Agent Adrien Bingham, FBI Agent Cameron Stone, and Firefighter/Engineer Thaddeus Carter. These three men have appeared in the series as subplot characters off and on since book 3, Stormy Nights, and have claimed the full focus in Going Under.

HH: What do you like best about Cameron and why will readers empathize with him?

TR: I like Cameron's strength. He's is a self-proclaimed playboy who is terrified of falling in love. Family issues and a great loss in his childhood tainted love for him and made him a billboard for the hot, alpha male who has a bone-deep fear he carefully keeps hidden. He's attracted to Adrien and Thaddeus from the start, but he knows both men want and deserve more than he is willing to give. Because of this, he struggles to keep his distance even though he inevitably fails.

HH: What do you like best about Adrien and Thaddeus  and why will readers love them?

TR: I love Adrien's honesty. He's already hung up on Cameron when he meets Thaddeus and he is completely open about his feelings for Cameron even though he isn't quite sure what those feelings are at first. Adrien could easily lie and keep both men on a string, but he chooses to be upfront about everything instead.

Thaddeus is patient, yet determined. Despite Adrien's honesty and the man's conviction not to get involved with Thaddeus because of his feelings for Cameron, Thaddeus hangs in there. He's understanding of Adrien's struggles, even more so when he meets Cameron himself. Thaddeus is the one people come to for advice, but isn't quite sure what advice to give himself except to go after what he wants when he finds himself in the middle of the love triangle.

HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?

TR: I'm currently working on a new M/M novel focusing on smokejumpers titled Controlling the Burn. I can't yet share much more than that because it is still in the beginning stages. Once it is complete, I will be returning to Silver Springs to write book 10 featuring Firefighter Lieutenant Max Jasper and Fire Investigator Regina Zimmerman.

HH: How does 2013 promise to be different from 2012 for you?

TR: I'm hoping 2013 will present more opportunities to interact with readers. I know I will be spending much of it writing the many ideas in my head. I released 8 books in 2012. So far, that's the most titles I've released in one year. I'm shooting to beat that record in 2013.

HH: What's your writing schedule like?

TR: It tends to vary from day to day. The one thing that remains constant is my minimum word count goal of 2k. Usually, I manage 5k or more before I have to call it a day. I work my schedule around my boyfriend and our 5 children, 2 of which live at home and the other 3 who pop in at least every other weekend or more. I can usually squeeze in a few uninterrupted hours during the day after everyone leaves for work and school.

HH: What's your favorite way to interact with readers?

TR: Any way I can. I love talking with readers. I don't get to meet many face-to-face, but I chat with readers through email at, on my blog at, or on Facebook at often.

HH: What are you most looking forward to in 2013?

TR: Ooo, that's an easy one. Entertaining readers as much as possible!

HH: Thank you so much!
