An Interview with Talia Carmichael
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio
HH: Talia, thank you for talking with us at The Rainbow Studio! Your featured book is Ralston's Way. Where did you get the idea for this unique tale?
TC: Ralston's Way came about when I thought of what happens when things change. The books is about a strong silent type cowboy who hates change, but life is changed when a computer geek takes on the job as his office manager. The cowboy is thrown for a loop by this geek who isn't as he seems. And he makes the cowboy want to know more.
HH: What do you like best about Blayne and why will readers relate to him?
TC: Blayne is funny, has a temper (only with Ralston) and is very deep into family. Blayne shows Morgan that sometimes when things that aren't your way that it can be very entertaining and sexy.
HH: What do you like best about Morgan and why will readers love him?
TC: Morgan is a cowboy through and through. He very steady-fast with his ways and set in those ways. His silent ways of letting you know you care is what makes him who he is. He is not a very verbal man but without words he will let you know he cares about you. There are also moments when he surprises you too. All these things combine to make him a compelling man.
HH: What do you think today's reader is looking for in m/m romance and how do you pull it off so well?
TC: I can only say what I as also a reader is looking for. A story that gives you everything from that first blush of attraction to the completion to the end of a love story. Thrown in with a mixture of interesting characters to fall in love with yourself as well as friends and family. A great plot that takes you on a journey. Each story should give you all of that.
HH: What else do you have in the works?
TC: Currently I'm working on finalizing Impressions # 3 and Prentiss # 2 for submission. Next after those I will be working on Something in Common # 3.
HH: How do you view the future of ebooks?
TC: It will be ever larger and get to a bigger audience. It is growing each day and becoming more common place. Each day there are more e-reader devices bought by readers.
HH: How much of your day is devoted to your writing career?
TC: The timing fluctuates based on how books are flowing. During the week I write mostly at night. On weekends I write all day.
HH: What's your favorite way to interact with readers?
TC: My blog. I try to blog often to chat with readers.
HH: What is your favorite Halloween type/themed story? Why?
TC: I enjoy shape shifters. They are just so powerful and complex. And the world built is also very captivating. Any books with that would capture me.
HH: What do you most enjoy about Autumn?
TC: The change of weather. The coolness comes making it a crisp and cleansing experience. I love being outside to enjoy it.
HH: Thank you!
